Patricia Gartland B.A, M.A, is the CEO/Superintendent of School District No. 43 (Coquitlam), located in Metro Vancouver, BC, Canada with 32,000 students in 70 K-12 schools including over 1000 international students.  Mrs. Gartland is a leader in intercultural and international education and is proficient in several languages. She has earned the accolades of her many colleagues and peers including receiving the BCCIE Distinguished Leadership Award in 2012 and being nominated for the BCCIE Lifetime Achievement Award.

Patricia has made presentations internationally on 21st century learning and technological innovation, most recently at the virtual Microsoft Canada Education Re-imagined; Microsoft ConnectEd; Canadian Association of Public Schools – International (CAPS-I); and the C21 CEO Academy Spring 2021 Webinar.  Patricia has also presented at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Philadelphia, USA; Micro:bit Live, Manchester, UK; Microsoft E2, Singapore and Paris; BCCIE summer seminar; Jack Ma Foundation’s Global Forum, Hangzhou, PRC; CAPS-I; CBIE; BETT, London, UK; China Education Innovation Exposition, Zhuhai, PRC; Beijing International Education Exchange (BIEE)’s forum on international education; Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) Education Symposium; British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) Webinar; the Canadian Ed Tech Virtual Summit; Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE)Virtual Conference; and the Learning Forward Virtual International Conference.  Mrs. Gartland served on the CBIE Board of Directors and now serves on the BCCIE Board of Directors. Patricia has been invited to participate in the Education Onward Council and the CBIE pan-Canadian working group.  Her work and achievements have been highlighted in newspapers including the Globe and Mail, the Vancouver Sun, the South China Morning Post, and MacLean’s Magazine.
