Originally from Poitiers, Sarah Ménil-Fillon studied in France. She holds a master’s degree in French Literature (Canterbury, England) and a master’s degree in Education. She has taught at the University of Kent and, since 2012, has been teaching grade 4 in New Brunswick. Currently, she teaches a 4th/5th combined class at École Les Éclaireurs in Fredericton. A conscientious teacher, Sarah was able to take advantage of the management of a two-level classroom as well as the challenges of teaching in the age of COVID-19. To nourish her teaching, she explored new pedagogical approaches that place students at the centre of their learning. She put forward the competency-based approach in projects that ensure interdisciplinarity, thus promoting socialization and the use of outdoor pedagogy. Sarah is looking forward to sharing her experience.
